some actual knitting and a big change

i have been knitting. i swear. and to show you that i have been knitting i have a picture of my latest fo.

it is a wedding gift (a late wedding gift). i am calling it "the spiced wine blanket". the name comes from the colors used. it is nice and warm and i hope the recipients like it. the whole thing took me about a week, mainly because i used big yarn and big needles (size 35).

another blanket is on the needles. this one is for M.

so, in other news... i have bought my own domain and will be moving my blog sometime soon. i can't wait, as blogspot is driving me crazy!

i'm a big 'fraidy cat

so... remember my last post where i was extolling the virtues of magic loop and how i was going to make some socks? well... i haven't yet, but not because i don't have the supplies. i have the needles, the magic loop booklet and the yarn. i have not casted on though because i am afraid - i am afraid of turning the heel and picking up stitches and all the things i haven't done before. like i said above, i am a big 'fraidy cat. hopefully sometime soon i will work up the courage and just do it. don't hold your breath though. :(

so i've decided that i am going to knit some socks. dpn's are the bane of my existence, so i picked up the magic loop booklet. can i just say now that i *heart* magic loop? the only issue i have run into (and i'm sure it would clear up with practice) is that my join is extremely loose and contains some gaps for the first two rows. i think that when i joined i did not have the needle pulled out enough - at lease i hope that is what it was. anyways, i just wanted to publicly proclaim my magic loop love and hopefully you will be seeing some socks on here soon!

It's been a while

I have been absent from the blogging world and knitting world for a couple weeks now. Part of it is due to the move M and I are making and part of it is due to a death in the immediate family. Hopefully, I will have some time for knitting and blogging soon. Just wanted to let you all know that I am still here, just somewhat absent.

Stashbusting

So lately I've been all about the stashbusting. Not just because M and I are moving and I don't want to pack all my yarn up, but also because I want to get rid of some of the acrylic I have so I can buy yummy yarn. My latest projects have included another pillow, plus one in the works. I have also made some cat toys with catnip. Yay for creative uses for stash yarn!
